Microsoft have moved to resolve the old IE compatability chestnut by releasing two entirely separate browsers with Windows 10.
- Internet Explorer, with all its backwards compatability and bloat, and
- ‘Spartan’ – an ‘edge’ brower with only modern rendering capability
Spartan is aimed clearly at providing a fast modern browser that can compete with Chrome and Firefox – ideal for the modern internet, while IE is there for ‘enterprise’ use (meaning compatibility with in-house applications build for specific browsers).
